Last updated: Wednesday, April 18, 2018Kids of Steel Weekend Guide

You’ve already done the hard work of finishing your Kids of STEEL training plan. Now it’s time to get ready to run! This guide will break down races for Saturday, May 5.

Saturday Race Day Tips and Info

With the start line on the North Shore and the festivities at Point State Park, here are a few race day tips to help you stay informed and get around on race weekend.
Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Kids of STEEL Facebook, twitter and Instagram accounts for up-to-date information, videos and more.
If your site coordinator isn't collecting logs, make sure you bring your completed training log to the Kids of STEEL tent in Point State Park to receive a finisher prize, which is an awesome 15-in-1 buff/bandana.
Use your phone to take a full-length photo of your child wearing their race day clothes and race number (take separate photos of each child if you have more than one). If you become separated from your child, we can use this photo to help locate them. If you can’t take a photo, remember what they are wearing.

CHICK-FIL-A Saturday Finish Line Festival

Head over to Point State Park after your race for the Chick-fil-A Saturday Finish Line Festival to decorate an Eat’n Park Cookie, take photos, jump on inflatables and more.

Saturday of race weekend is Family Day, a wonderful way for all family members to stay fit and active, meet new friends and enjoy the city outdoors. Saturday events include:
Kids Marathon
The 1-mile Toyota Pittsburgh Kids Marathon is a wonderful way for kids (and their families) to participate in the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events.
Enjoy 3.1 miles of city streets, cross over one of the many beautiful bridges in Pittsburgh and reach your goal at the official DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon finish line in the heart of downtown.
Toddler Trot
The Sheetz Pittsburgh Toddler Trot is a wonderful way for toddlers to participate in the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events.

Getting Around Town

Getting around town on race weekend can be challenging so we've provided information and maps to help you as you travel around the city.  We're looking forward to seeing runners, volunteers and spectators fill our streets on race weekend.
