The 12-week training season for the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon will officially kick off on Saturday, February 3 with the annual Half Marathon Kickoff Training Run hosted by P3R and the Steel City Road Runners. You do NOT need to be registered for a 2018 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend event to participate in this training run.
SCRR will lead trainings runs of several distances (3-5 and 7-10 mile loops) at various pace options to accomodate ALL runners and training plans. Additionally, there will be 10th Anniversary commemorative yard signs for the first 250 runners, a P3R gear store on-site with special pricing, post-run snacks and refreshments, and FREE goodies from various partners.

*In partnership with GNC, professional runner Waverly Neer and Registered Dietitian Amanda Bright will host a brief Q&A session to cover proper half-marathon preparation.
UPMC Sports Medicine will be hosting free runner assessments from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. ahead of the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon Kickoff Training Run on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Lower extremity musculoskeletal screens will be performed by physical therapists and athletic trainers. There will also be a few spots available for a more in-depth gait analysis session.

There is very limited parking at the UPMC Rooney Sports Performance complex. Additional parking can be found in any of the SouthSide Works surface parking lots or garages, with a short warm-up walk over to the facility. There will be signs and volunteers helping direct people.
