Danielle's Story

Danielle is running for The Parkinson's Foundation of Western Pennsylvania (PFWPA), which she has done for the past two years. The foundation believes that no one should have to face Parkinson’s alone and continues to help the members of the Pittsburgh community who are facing this challenge.

“PD patients are some of the most determined, tough, and resilient people I know. That's why each year in May I run for the members of our community who can't,” said Danielle. “PD patients do remarkable things each day and push their bodies in the face of increasingly difficult challenges. Running is the least I can do to support them and an organization that is providing such an important resource for our community.

Pittsburgh also has a local boxing club, Rock Steady Boxing, that is working hard to make a difference. They offer a boxing program that helps patients regain balance, agility, and enthusiasm.

“The boxing program is really impactful. We have seen it improve lives in our Pittsburgh community through movement and exercise. There is no cure for PD, but these classes seem to dramatically help patients and improve their quality of life.”

Danielle has raised $1,000 for PFWPA in just two years by running the Pittsburgh Marathon in May. This year, Danielle is also running with her mom, Becky. It’s their second year running together in support of PFWPA.
