Stephanie's Story

0

Stephanie Errigo is running in the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon this year, virtually, and to her, it means so much more than that.

Her fiance, James, has been living with Cystic Fibrosis. They are getting married in October and are excited to build their futures together. Although James has been living with this rare disease, he and Stephanie have never lost hope. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has helped enhance James’ future, especially with their funding of the new medicine, Trikafta.

“We have so much to hope for. So much of our future ahead of us, that I am running to get us there together,” said Stephanie.

Because Cystic Fibrosis is a rare disease, research is not government funded, forcing the foundation to rely heavily on donations and those like Stephanie, who Run For A Reason. Stephanie also has established a non-profit of her own that passes out care packages for CF Patients at UPMC Presby, called Pouches of Positivity.

“My goal is to raise $1,000 this year for the foundation. Why? Because I want my fiance to live with a great quality of life. Why am I running? Because I love him.”
