0
Race weekend is just one week away! We hope you are as excited as we are. As we begin the final countdown to the 2019 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events, we wanted to share some of the exciting happenings we are most looking forward to this year! Here are the top 11 things to do on race weekend:

1. Get Social with Us

The Social Center is returning for its sixth year! A room full of P3R event staff and volunteers will be answering your questions and providing live event coverage before, during and after race weekend. Join in the conversation by posting your favorite race weekend moments to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using the hashtags #MOVEPittsburgh and #RunnerOfSTEEL.

2. Power Up for Your Race

Music can be a huge motivator when it comes to your runs, so why not find out what tunes help to keep your fellow runners MOVING. Download the Official P3R Spotify Playlist presented by PNC - curated by your fellow Runners of Steel - so you can get in the zone before race day!

3. Stop By the GNC Live Well Pittsburgh Health and Fitness Expo

The GNC Live Well Pittsburgh Health and Fitness Expo is open on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4. After you pick up your race packet, check out more the more than 100 vendors who will be on hand with the latest fitness products, nutritional supplements, workout gear and much more. Visit the ‘Burgh Blog again next week for our Top 11 Things to Do at the Expo!

4. Meet the Pittsburgh Steelers

This year's Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon will be one to remember! Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt and quarterback Mason Rudolph - along with several local mascots - will be at the start line to cheer on a record number of kids as they begin their one-mile run. Saturday of race weekend is Family Day, and it is sure to be a day filled with unforgettable memories!

5. Bring Your Pet Along for the Fun

The DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events isn’t just for humans! Dogs, as well as cats and other pets, can join in the fun by participating in the one-mile Blue Buffalo Pittsburgh Pet Walk on Saturday, May 4. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in three categories: Cutest Pet, Pet/Owner Look-A-Like and Best Costume. All regisration proceeds benefit Humane Animal Rescue.

6. Bet On Darren Rovell

This year, sports business analyst Darren Rovell is joining us for the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon. Watch as he passes you on the race course in his goal to raise $25,000 for the Kids of Steel program! Click here to learn more about #BettingOnRovell.

7. Look Up and Smile

You may feel the urge to look down at the timer on your watch, but we encourage you to really savor every moment - the start of the race, passing Pittsburgh landmarks, running on our beautiful bridges, and crossing that finish line of course. Our photographers might capture your ear-to-ear grin or the raw emotion you are feeling as you complete your race! You never know… yours could be the next image to be featured on our social media channels or website.

8. Ring the GEICO PR Bell

Personal bests, personal records (PRs), the best day ever… Whatever you call them, they deserve to be celebrated. BIG TIME! Take time to commemorate your special moment at the Geico PR Bell as you reflect on the months of commitment and one amazing day of running.

9. Celebrate with a Cold Beer

Kick off your post-race celebration by trying Marathon Brewing Company’s new 26.2 Brew at the Official Beer Tent in the Finish Line Festival! Brewed with Himalayan sea salt and coriander, this golden, hazy ale offers athletes a reward for their hard work that tastes as satisfying as their accomplishments feel.

10. Treat Yourself to Some Swag

While you’re busy enjoying the Finish Line Festival, head over to the P3R Gear Store to purchase your official finisher jacket, official race poster, 4RUN2 gear and much more. You accomplished something amazing, so why not treat yo’ self?

11. Keep the Celebration Going All Day

Check out the free Marathon After Party from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse in the North Side. All runners with a bib get a free Bloody Mary and will have a chance to purchase the exclusive Runner of STEEL bourbon.
