If you already registered for the UPMC Health Plan Half Marathon, you don't need to transfer your registration to the Walking Division. If you decide you would like to walk the UPMC Health Plan Half Marathon after registering, drop back to a later corral on race day. All participants in the Walking Division will be placed in Corral E.
The walking division is non-competitive, and there will be no awards. All walking division finishers will receive the half marathon finisher’s medal.
Participants in the walking division will need to maintain an average 20 minutes per mile pace for the 13.1-mile course. Participants in the walking division can also use the run/walk method.
Due to course time limits and the need to reopen the streets on time, we are only able to offer the official walking category to the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon in 2026.
Participants in the Marathon need to maintain an average pace of 16 minutes per mile. Several Marathon participants use a run-walk-run approach to complete the 26.2-mile course, so as long as you maintain the 16 minute-per-mile maximum pace, you’re good to go!
