Runner Etiquette
05.01.23
As we enter race week, we wanted to remind our MOVERS, both seasoned and new, the proper etiquette so that you and your fellow participants have the best experience possible during the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend of Events.
Below are a few things to remember:
1) Start in your assigned corral. Corrals are assigned by your expected race pace. If you would like to start in a later corral, you are more than welcome to do so, but you can’t move into an earlier corral.

2) Be mindful and don’t spit or blow your nose in the middle of the course. (Believe it or not this is a thing!)

3) Don’t cut lines at the porta-potties – before, during or after the race!

4) Let people pass you, and vice versa, if you are passing someone do so carefully. Do not cut anyone off and pass them on their left side.

5) If you need to slow down or even walk, move to the right and raise your hand to warn runners around you so they don't run into you!

6) When approaching an aid station – slow down, but quickly grab your water, Nuun Hydration or Honey Stinger gels/chews.

7) Encourage your fellow MOVERS! A simple “Great job!” or “You’ve got this!” may be exactly what someone needs to keep going!

8) Run through the finish line! Once you’ve crossed continue down the finish line chute toward your finisher medal.
