P3R is excited to announce the newest addition to the 2025 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Weekend of Events - the U. S. Steel Pittsburgh Champions Mile!

This untimed, inclusive event welcomes everyone to join in a celebration of inclusion, joy, and bravery, supporting families and friends living with disabilities. 

Scheduled to take place at 8:30 a.m. on “Family Day” of Marathon Weekend on May 3, the U. S. Steel Pittsburgh Champions Mile invites participants of all abilities to run, walk, stroll or roll through the vibrant streets of Pittsburgh, culminating in a memorable finish under the iconic DICK's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon finish line on the Boulevard of the Allies.

This event is designed to create a sense of unity and accomplishment, allowing individuals of diverse backgrounds to come together and share in the spirit of community.

The U. S. Steel Pittsburgh Champions Mile also will give back to the community with $10 from every registration directly benefiting the 45 official charities of the Run for a Reason Charity Program presented by KeyBank. By being part of the event, participants not only engage in a unique and inclusive experience but also contribute to meaningful causes that make a positive impact on the community.

Participants are encouraged to sign up and be a part of this empowering experience, open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. All registered participants will receive an event shirt and medal to commemorate their involvement in the inaugural U.S. Steel Pittsburgh Champions Mile!

Champions Mile FAQs

Champions Mile is an untimed, inclusive event that welcomes everyone to join in a celebration of inclusion, joy, and bravery, supporting families and friends living with disabilities.

No, anyone that crosses the start line must be registered and have a Champions Mile race bib.

The course follows the same route as the Kids Marathon. CLICK HERE to view the course map.

No, the Champions Mile event is an untimed fun run, not a race.

  • No refunds or deferments of entry forms
  • Motorized mobility aids, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, roller skates, roller blades and hoverboards are not permitted on the course
  • Headphones are strongly discouraged
  • Only service animals are permitted on the course

Yes, walkers are welcome to join in the Champions Mile. The course will be open for 30 minutes.

There are no water stops on the Champions Mile course, please carry water with you if you need it.

  • There will be a checkpoint to access the corrals. Security guards have the right to inspect bags prior to entry into the corrals. Only bring what you need that day and consider not carrying any bags which may delay your entry into the corrals. 
  • Only participants with a CHAMPIONS MILE race number will be permitted entry.

Yes, you may, so long as the child is registered for the Champions Mile event.

  • If you want to watch your participant from the sidewalk, remain on the north side of the Blvd. of the Allies, the same side of the street where Point Park University’s Academic Hall is located.
  • Adhere to directions provided by event staff and race day security during the event. Their goal is to keep all participants safe and to unite participants with their friends/family in the designated areas.

If your fellow participant arrives at the finish line before you, there is a waiting area on the left side of the chute where your fellow participant can wait with volunteers until you meet up with them.

We understand that circumstances change, and you may find yourself unable to participate as initially planned. To accommodate this, we offer the ability to transfer your registration to another participant, allowing you to share the joy of racing while still making the most of your investment.

If you would like to transfer your registration, simply log into your Race Roster account. Once you are logged in, you will see a box labeled Transfer on both the right or left sides of the screen. Please click on the box and then select Transfer to New Participant and complete the steps as directed.

Please note that there is a $20.00 transfer fee plus any applicable change in registration fees. The deadline to transfer your registration is April 1, 2025.
