Freddie loved showing up at the marathon start line each and every year to take photos of the thousands of runners, his medical team, and his cycling team. We are all heartbroken and will miss him deeply.” - Past Pittsburgh Marathon Race Directors Patrice Matamoros, Larry Kuzmanko, and Larry Grollman

Awards Q&A

Non-Binary registrants will only be competing for top 10 overall awards within the Non-Binary Division. Those competing in the Non-Binary Division will be ineligible for Male and Female overall, age group, and other gender-based awards.

Runners who would like to enter the Non-Binary Division can log into their Race Roster account to edit their registration and choose to compete in the Non-Binary Division. For example, if you registered as either male or female but would prefer to compete in the Non-Binary Division, you will need to edit your registration accordingly. If you registered as non-binary or chose not to disclose your gender, you will automatically be entered in the Non-Binary Division.

If you don’t indicate specifically that you would like to compete in the Non-Binary Division, we will automatically enter you in the division that matches the gender you identified during the registration process. For example, if you registered as female and wish to compete in the Female Division, you don’t need to change anything on your registration -- you will automatically be placed in the Female Division. As another example, if you registered as non-binary and don’t edit your registration, you will automatically be placed in the Non-Binary Division.

Yes, you can switch divisions until April 1, 2025. There will be no division changes after that date. (If you register after April 1, 2025, you will not be able to change divisions.) Additionally, there will be no division changes after the race.

Runners who are competing in the Non-Binary Division will be eligible to receive the following awards based on chip time:Marathon: First through Tenth Place, Half Marathon: First through Tenth Place, 5K: First through Fifth Place

Yes, of course. Please email us at info@p3r.org so that we can place your registration in the division in which you’d like to compete. The awards for gender-specific divisions and categories will follow USATF policy.
