Participation
- The 2023 event will showcase more than 40,000 participants from all 50 states and more than 10 countries representing six continents.
- Participants ages 10 months to 86 will cross the finish line at this year’s event.
- Students from more than 220 schools and organizations are logging 25.2 miles as part of the Kids of STEEL program. They will run the last mile of their goal in the Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon or UPMC Health Plan / UPMC Sports Medicine Pittsburgh 5K.
- The Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon is one of the largest kids races in the country and drew more than 10,000 kids and their parents in 2022.
- More than 40% of those participating in the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon are tackling the 26.2-mile distance for the very first time.
- Almost 30% of those participating in the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon are MOVING for 13.1 miles for the first time ever.
- More than 1,000 people - including Mayor of Pittsburgh Ed Gainey - are participating in the second annual half marathon walking division - more than double the participation from last year.
- 300,000+ spectators line the start line, course and finish line.
- 60,000 Pittsburgh Health & Fitness Expo visitors
- 40 companies are participating in the 2023 FedEx Pittsburgh Corporate Challenge, an opportunity for corporations and companies of all sizes to promote workplace wellness and build teamwork across departments.

- The men’s Pittsburgh Half Marathon record is 1:01:25, set by Wesley Kiptoo in 2022.
- The women’s Pittsburgh Half Marathon record is 1:09:30, set by Caroline Rotich in 2022.
