2023 Spectator's Guide
Alright, Pittsburgh! It's time to show up and show support for all those friends, family members, coworkers, and neighbors who have been training for their races on Sunday, May 7! As you plan your weekend, it's important to have a game plan to cheer on your favorite MOVERS, and we want to help!
We're excited to have so many cheer groups and festivals out on the course making sure all our runners feel the Pittsburgh love. Here is your one-stop-shop to make the most out of your spectator experience.
General recommendations:
- Leave early! Road closures begin at 5:30 a.m. Make sure you can make it to the location where you want to cheer before your way is blocked!
- Dress for the weather. We can't always predict the weather, so make sure you're prepared with your sunblock, rain jacket, layers, sunglasses/hat, etc.
- Cheer! Don't block! Runners need all the space on the streets, so please be respectful of the effort they have put into their training and stay on the sidewalks to keep the whole course available just to the runners. (Also, make sure your vehicle is parked OFF the course - we don't want to have your vehicle towed!)
- Wish them well and find your place. Only registered runners and walkers with official race bib numbers will be permitted inside the start line corrals. If you would like to walk your friend or loved one to the corral, you can! But you must wish them luck and go to your spectator location.
Neighborhood Cheer Opportunities:
While you're out there cheering on your runner, there are a few places we suggest you gather for the best experience. We've broken them down into three opportunities:
- Official Cheer Groups
- Official Cheer Festivals
- PRIME Locations (these are locations we've identified as perfect to cheer on runners as they pass through - they could be at particularly difficult miles, business districts, or exciting landmarks)
